About the Park


Located outside of the small town of Estes Park, Colorado, Rocky Mountain National Park fascinates many with it's endless trails through deep valleys and towering rocks. It was established in 1915. The park has earned national fame due to its majestic peaks, amount of wildlife, and all around natural beauty. The elevations range between 14,259 feet and 7,500 feet. There are three main zones- the montane, the sub-alpine, and the alpine- of which different interactions between the atmosphere, hydrosphere, biosphere, and geosphere occur. In addition, The mountains were formed almost 2 billion years ago, and since then, have gone through numerous amounts of geological changes.
